Support & Shared Notes Logbook

This is the logbook I wish I had when I was trying to navigate the world years ago, when my autistic child wasn’t yet verbal.

I created this logbook to help myself — and other parents, carers, educators and support workers — make sense of a child’s behaviours, triggers and support needs, without having to hold everything in their head.

It includes structured daily logs designed for challenging days, prompting you to record the many variables that can contribute to dysregulation and meltdowns, such as environment, sleep, diet, sensory input, routines and family dynamics. When days are emotionally or physically exhausting, it can be hard to step back and see the bigger picture — these pages help you do exactly that.

The logbook also doubles as a shared communication tool between home, school and support teams, so everyone is working from the same information and you’re not starting from scratch at every conversation.

Optional pattern tracking pages allow you to zoom out over a chosen time period and reflect on recurring themes, triggers and supports that seem to help most. Appointment preparation pages guide you to organise your thoughts before meetings, note what’s most important to raise, and capture key information during sessions — so you don’t leave feeling overwhelmed or upset.

These records can be useful when preparing for NDIS reviews, school support meetings, or when reviewing and adjusting supports as your child’s needs change. They may also support homeschooling families in understanding what works best for their child at home, and assist therapists by providing clear, consistent observational information over time.

This logbook isn’t about fixing your child.
It’s about understanding them, advocating with confidence, and recognising that your child is their own unique and complex self.
